Coronal Mass Ejection
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Start Time: 2023-08-30T22:12Z ( SOHO: LASCO/C2 )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
SOHO: LASCO/C2
SOHO: LASCO/C3
Activity ID: 2023-08-30T22:12:00-CME-001 (version 2)
Source Location: N15W15
Note Keyword:
DFL: Likely deflection of the event within the FOV
DPL: CME exhibits dimpled front
GAP: Data gap
HAL: Halo CME
OFL: Outflowing material at the back of the CME
Source Signature Keyword:
FIL: Filament eruption
BR: Brightening
DIM: Dimming
EUVW: EUV Wave
Morphology Keyword:
FS: Flux Rope and Shock Candidate
Note: Partial halo seen in SOHO with clear fronts in the S and in the NE. Its source could be the eruption of a long NE-SW-stretched filament starting 2023-08-30T20:30Z - a long filament centered around N15W15 as seen in AIA 193/304; there is also a more minor dimming near the disk center after the initial filament eruption above.

Event Type Catalog
Measurement TypeCME measurement type: Leading Edge (LE), Shock Front (SH), Right Hand Boundary (RHB), Left Hand Boundary (LHB), Black/White Boundary (BW), Prominence Core (COR), Disconnection Front (DIS), Trailing Edge (TE).
Prime?"primary flag" which is either True or False. If there are multiple CME analysis entries for a single CME, earlier measurements are marked as false when new or more accurate measurements are made. This is a helpful flag if you would like to download only one most accurate CME analysis per CME

CME Analysis M2M_CATALOG LE true SWPC_CAT -7.0 6.0 729.0 C 45.0 2023-08-31T01:54Z Very approximate swpc_cat-fit-based analysis because of the non-circular shape of the CME; leaning towards negative longitude based on the observation that the bulk of the CME seemingly went more towards the SE as seen in coronagraph. Using default half width since this is a halo CME. 1: Result 1 (2.0 AU)

CME Analysis M2M_CATALOG SH false SWPC_CAT 0.0 11.0 929.0 C 45.0 2023-08-31T01:01Z Preliminary measurement of fainter shock front, based on the assumption that this is a front-sided event and on a fit of S and NE fronts in swpc_cat with the default half width. It looks like the CME got deflected from the source filament eruption NW of disk center, but then there is also lighter darkening near disk center. 1: Result 1 (2.0 AU)
