SOHO: LASCO/C3
Activity ID: 2024-06-01T20:00:00-CME-001 (version 5)
Source Location: S20E21
Active Region Number: 13697
Note Keyword:
DPL: CME exhibits dimpled front
GAP: Data gap

OVR: Event partially overlaps with another CME
Source Signature Keyword:
FLR: Flare
PEA: Post eruption arcade
DIM: Dimming
Morphology Keyword:
O: Other
Note: A CME to the SE with a complex uneven (pointy) front that comes on the heels of and overlaps with the preceding 2024-06-01T19:12Z halo CME (which was concluded to be backsided). The source of this, likely front-sided, CME could be the M7.3 flare from Active Region 3697 (S20E21) peaking at 2024-06-01T19:40Z and an associated eruption signified by post-eruptive arcades and a somewhat more eastern, not very deep, dimming centered very approximately around (S20E25). The front (e.g. the width) of this CME is not easy to determine because of the overlap with the preceding, likely backsided, halo and because the CME is partially obscured by the pylon in C3.

Prime?"primary flag" which is either True or False. If there are multiple CME analysis entries for a single CME, this flag would indicate which analysis is considered most accurate per measurement type. This is a helpful flag if you would like to download only one most accurate CME analysis per CME per Measurement Type

CME Analysis M2M_CATALOG LE true SWPC_CAT -24.0 -14.0 898.0 C 27.0 2024-06-01T23:34Z A very uncertain analysis is based on the source location of the dimming associated with the flare and on the fit with one coronagraph (SOHO) since in STEREO A COR2 the CME is fully covered by the night time data gap. The shape of the CME front, as it is seen overlapping with the preceding, likely backsided, halo, is very complex and the exact width is hard to determine. There also can be a range of possible longitudes (at least from -20 to -25 degrees), from the longitude of the associated flare to the more eastern longitude of the associated dimming. 1: Result 1 (2.0 AU)
