Event End Time:
Peak Solar Wind Speed (km/s): 500.0
Date of first appearance of coronal hole in EUV at east limb: 2026-04-15
Note: Complex solar wind signature characterized by two separate increases in solar wind analyzed together into this single entry, likely due to interactions with CME 2026-04-23T05:12Z which arrived at 2026-04-25T19:28Z. Starting at 2026-04-24T23:40Z, an increase in solar wind speed from ~380 km/s to ~450 km/s was observed alongside an increase in temperature and decrease in density, and a slow rise in B_total up to ~9.2 nT as of 2026-04-25T00:48Z. Solar wind speed briefly returned to background levels with solar wind speeds of ~350 km/s by around 2026-04-25T14:41Z, as temperature decreased and density increased slightly. At 2026-04-25T18:47Z, a second slow increase of speed began from ~360km/s to ~500 km/s, alongside a temperature increase and density decrease. A rise in B_total from ~5nT to ~11.6nT is observed starting at 2026-04-24T19:28Z, associated with the most clear starting point for the arrival of CME 2026-04-23T05:12Z mixed into this high speed stream signature. After 2026-04-26T14:00Z, magnetic field rapidly drops back to background levels, with solar wind remaining elevated until 2026-04-28. The candidate coronal hole here is a positive polarity, long, thin coronal hole signature in the southern hemisphere which began crossing the central meridian on 2026-04-21. The positive polarity assists in identifying both increases in the solar wind as likely from this same coronal hole with phi angle largely postively oriented throughout the signature. It is also notable that this coronal hole is a southern hemisphere feature, and the CME interaction was from N16E40 (AR 14420), separated by a large distance on the solar disk.
