Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2025-05-28T22:38Z ( ACE: SWEPAM )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
DSCOVR: PLASMAG
Activity ID: 2025-05-28T22:38:00-IPS-001 (version 1)
Quality of ICME Signature: 2 (clear signatures)
Note: Characterized by a brief initial spike in Btotal from 16nT to 18.7nT, rising to a maximum Bt of 25.3nT with Bz southward at -24.8nT observed together at 2025-05-29T00:07Z. Observed alongside the start of a density pileup to a maximum of ~17.9 p/cc near 2025-05-28T23:44Z, rapidly increasing wind speed from ~370 km/s to ~630 km/s over the period 2025-05-28T23:11Z to 2025-05-29T02:07Z, and rising temperature profile alongside the wind speed increase. Solar wind and temperature data remain high, likely indicative of a coronal hole high speed stream arrival.
