Coronal Mass Ejection
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Start Time: 2024-07-23T14:48Z ( SOHO: LASCO/C2 )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
SOHO: LASCO/C2
SOHO: LASCO/C3
STEREO A: SECCHI/COR2
Activity ID: 2024-07-23T14:48:00-CME-001 (version 3)
Source Location: S10E77
Note Keyword:
3P: 3-part structure CME
FOV: Front Bright front; may be evidence of pileup
GAP: Data gap
Ha: Bright emission (likely H-alpha emission)
OFL: Outflowing material at the back of the CME
Source Signature Keyword:
FLR: Flare
PEA: Post eruption arcade
OFL: Moving/Opening field lines
EUVW: EUV Wave
Morphology Keyword:
FS: Flux Rope and Shock Candidate
Note: Bright CME seen to the E in all coronagraphs. The source is an M2.4 flare from an unnumbered region on the SE limb around S10E77, which peaked at 2024-07-23T14:28Z, best seen in SDO AIA 131. Also observed starting around 2024-07-23T13:34Z as rapid field line opening with an EUV wave, followed by post-eruptive arcades, in SDO AIA 171/193/211 with surface brightening in SDO AIA 304.

Prime?"primary flag" which is either True or False. If there are multiple CME analysis entries for a single CME, this flag would indicate which analysis is considered most accurate per measurement type. This is a helpful flag if you would like to download only one most accurate CME analysis per CME per Measurement Type

CME Analysis M2M_CATALOG LE true SWPC_CAT -77.0 1.0 833.0 C 36.0 2024-07-23T18:34Z Improved BULK measurement as SOHO data backfilled shortly after the prelim measurement (and prior to sending a notification from it). Better triangulated between SOHO and STEREO to the source of E77, and does not include the poor quality frames of SOHO LASCO C3 in the latest frames of this CME. 1: Result 1 (2.0 AU)

CME Analysis M2M_CATALOG SH true SWPC_CAT -37.0 -7.0 950.0 C 45.0 2024-07-23T17:57Z SHOCK measurement triangulated between SOHO and STEREO imagery. While the source is at E77, that does not visually fit swpc_cat well even in one coronagraph, and requires heavy deflection east or west to fit, favoring a front-sided fit around E30-E40. Some uncertainty lies in this shock analysis as a result. 1: Result 1 (2.0 AU)

CME Analysis M2M_CATALOG LE false SWPC_CAT -70.0 0.0 637.0 C 42.0 2024-07-23T19:27Z Preliminary BULK measurement of the CME using only STEREO COR2A data and the source of the M2.4 flare as a basis, finding a good visual fit around E70. SOHO LASCO C3 is used roughly to help line up to E70--but poor data quality prevented reliable use of C3 for an actual measurement. SOHO has yet to backfill data covering this CME outside of the latest frames, and imagery currently available is choppy and not usable, so this presented analysis is the best possible until SOHO downlinks data over this period and is subject to change upon further analysis. 1: Result 1 (2.0 AU)
